What strikes your mind when you hear Bavaria? To me its BMW (Bavarian Motor Works)
In the autumn of 2018, got an opportunity to visit Bavaria. The short trip to Munich and Deggendorf was beautiful. We had only a day each for both the cities.
In Deggendorf we stayed near the town square and spent the sunny autumn evening walking around the old buildings and sipping some nice German beer in the street side bars. The environments is fantastic with mostly tourists around using this small town as a gateway to the Bavarian hills just a stones throw away.
In Munich we booked a hotel in the main city centre so that we can walk around the main historical parts and also enjoy some beer. No doubt the number 1 destination of Munich is always the Marienplatz. The epicentral heart and soul of the Altstadt, Marienplatz is a popular gathering spot and packs a lot of personality into a compact frame. It’s anchored by the Mariensäule, built in 1638 to celebrate victory over Swedish forces during the Thirty Years’ War. This is the busiest spot in all Munich, throngs of tourists swarming across its expanse from early morning till late at night. After spending few hours around the area we decided to visit Hofbräuhaus. Even if you don’t like beer, every visitor to Munich should make a pilgrimage to the mother ship of all beer halls, if only once.
