follow Delhi – Dharamshala:
With the world cup match scheduled in the beautiful stadium in Dharamshala, it was a perfect occasion to visit the Kangra valley. Dharamshala lies around 500 kms from home in Delhi. We started at 4:30 in the evening of 17 march, 2016. It took us 1 hr 30 mins to cross over Delhi and started cruising in the beautiful NH1. At 8:30 we reached Zirakpur where the road bifurcates to Shimla while one goes north to Chandigarh.
We decided to stay for the night in Chandigarh. Next morning we started early at 4:45 AM from Chandigarh. The road via Roopnagar, Una, Kangra to Dharamshala is beautiful and we reached Dharamshala at 9:45 AM. We were booked on the beautiful heritage property Kashmir House. The setting of this hotel is beautiful. The forecast predicted rain during the day and a possible washout of the match. But luck favored us and the sky cleared up and nice sunny afternoon presented itself for the match.

With a prefect match day after a long drive from Delhi, we had a nice rest in the evening. In the morning we woke up to thundershowers. After 8 AM in the morning it started to transform to hails and it was severe.
We started our journey to Palampur at 11:45 AM. Enroute we stopped at various points to click pictures of the beautiful Dhauladhar. We reached Palampur at 1:30 which is just 30 kms away from Dharamshala. We stayed at beautiful Tea Bud Hotel.

We started at 9:20 from Palampur. The road is scenic from Palampur to Baijnath to Jogindernagar. We stopped several times to click pictures. The route turns bad from Jogindernagar till Mandi. The potholes make the journey little less fun. However we made the awesome journey. Our destination for the day was Manali and we reached Manali at 2:00 PM. The road from Mandi to Manali is brilliant.
